A crash close to the motorway bridge on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 caused delays for motorists this morning.

The smash between a car and a motorbike happened not far from the Chatham A229 turn-off just after 7am.

The carriageway was completely blocked prior just before 8am, but now all four lanes have reopened.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Police was called at 7.02am to reports of a road traffic collision on the M2.”

A recovery vehicle had to come out to pick up the motorbike.

One driver said he was delayed for more than an hour.

It is not believed anyone suffered serious injuries in the crash.
