Crash on City Way, Rochester, causes delays for motorists

Motorists are being urged to find alternative routes after a crash in Rochester this morning.

The smash, which involved at least two vehicles happened shortly before 10am on City Way at the junction with Pattens Lane.

Paramedics and police are currently at the scene and it is understood one person has been put on a stretcher and put in an ambulance.

The crash has resulted in traffic backing up from Star Hill and until the road is clear motorists are being urged to use other routes.

A spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called to a reported two vehicle collision on the A229 in Rochester at 8.50am.

"It is reported to have happened at the junction with Pattens Lane.

"The South East Coast Ambulance have also been called and are assessing injuries at the scene.

"The road is reported to be partially blocked and drivers are advised to expect delays and, where possible, use another route."
