Do you know someone who makes a difference?

It could be someone who has raised lots of money for charity, runs a community group or given up their own time to care for another.

Whoever it is, whatever they have done, it’s time to put them forward for Pride in Medway.

The 2013/14 awards are launched today (Friday) and once again we are looking for those people who do wonderful things but rarely get recognised for their efforts.

This is the 13th time Pride in Medway has run and during that time we have reported on hundreds of marvellous people who help make the Towns tick.

Last time, the overall winners were courageous couple Matt and Caroline Loughrey who have raised an incredible £88,000 for CLIC Sargent since their elder daughter Emily died in 2007.

Their fundraising exploits included an epic journey across America. Matt cycled 3,000 miles from coast to coast in 19 days, with only Caroline in a support vehicle alongside him.

The couple have also inspired many other charity challenges from skydives to slims.

They received their trophy at the gala by six-time Paralympic champion Sascha Kindred, who described them as “inspirational”.

Pride in Medway is sponsored by Medway Council, mhs homes, E.ON, Southern Water, the University of Kent and the Medway Messenger.

Southern Water’s Beverley Thompson said: “Southern Water is very proud to support Pride in Medway.

"It is great way to showcase the many talents of the Medway community and most importantly to say thank you.

"We are looking forward to meeting the people who make Medway such a special place.”
