Gillingham and Rainham general election results

Rehman Chishti has been re-elected as MP for Gillingham and Rainham.

Mr Chishti (Con) received 27,091 votes, just under 10,000 more than Labour candidate Andy Stamp who received 17,661.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted, honoured and privileged to be reelected.

“I just want to thank all the wonderful people from Gillingham and Rainham who have given me a chance to serve a third term.”

Turnout was 67.15%, 48,958 people voted out of a possible 72,903. In 2015 turnout was 64.8%.

Spoiled ballot papers included messages such as “none” and “I’m not voting.”
