Rimuylas Bielinis of Station Road, Rainham, charged with drink-driving after crashing into traffic light in Birling Avenue, Rainham

A motorist has been charged with drink-driving after a vehicle crashed into a traffic light in Rainham.

Police and paramedics were called out to Birling Avenue at about 7.40am yesterday after a blue Renault Clio crashed at a pedestrian crossing there.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, was treated at the scene by ambulance crews for minor injuries and then arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and driving without insurance.

This morning, police said they had charged the man with several offences.

A spokesman for police in Medway said:"Rimuylas Bielinis of Station Road, Rainham, has been bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 13."

He has been charged with drink driving and driving without insurance or a licence.
