Bus passengers came to the aid of a driver who is thought to have collapsed at the wheel.
The emergency services were called to Chatham town centre following the accident just after 8.30am this morning.
The bus had hit a traffic island at the junction of Railway Street and Best Street.
The driver, a man in his sixties, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.
A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "The driver is thought to have collapsed at the wheel and passengers came to his aid. He was taken to Medway Maritime as a priority."
There were no other reported injuries. The road was closed until 10.45am while the vehicle was recovered.
