Crash on the A229 Blue Bell Hill near Chatham Road, caused delays for motorists

A crash on the A229 Blue Bell Hill caused delays for motorists earlier this morning.

The accident happened at about 8am on the northbound carriageway, near to the Chatham Road, turn off.

The smash resulted in the road being partially blocked and traffic was moving slowly heading towards Maidstone.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene and the driver was taken to hospital a precaution and did not suffer serious injuries.

Lucy Hurdle, spokesman for police, said: " Kent Police was called at 7.59am to reports of a collision involving one car on the A229, Chatham-bound carriageway.

"Officers attended the scene with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue."

It is understood the crash site has now been cleared.
