A 17-year-old boy from Southwark in London was also arrested in Skinner Street, Gillingham on the same day and charged possession with intent to supply, and likewise remanded to appear at Chatham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday October 21.

Four other people were arrested for drug offences – two men aged 18 and 22, a woman aged 28 and a 16- year-old boy - who have all been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Rob Harper said: "Local patrols, detectives from north Kent CID and officers from Operation Jupiter are all continuing to work together to remove drugs from our local communities. We are committed to targeting those we believe are responsible for the misery and destruction of lives connected to harmful substances such as heroin and cocaine. Anyone who deals in drugs can expect a robust response. Expect to be arrested and put before the courts."

Operation Jupiter is part of a local strategy designed to tackle emerging criminal gangs, whose members often travel into the county from other areas. The strategy includes taking robust action to deter criminals in areas including Medway, Swale, Gravesham and Dartford, often in connection with the sale and distribution of drugs.
