Chatham flat rescue after blaze on the third floor of Steddys Court in Bryant Street

An elderly man was rescued from a fire in a block of flats today.

The emergency services were called to Steddys Court in Bryant Street, Chatham, at 12.30pm.

Three fire engines and the South East Coast Ambulance attended.

Firefighters rescued the elderly man, whose age is not known, from the third floor flat of the 12-storey tower block.

Crews tackled the blaze with a hose reel. The man was passed to the care of paramedics at the scene.
