A mum-to-be has made a desperate plea for her stolen purse - containing her baby scan and engagement ring.

Medway detectives are appealing for information after the pregnant woman's purse was taken from her bag while she attended a neo-natal appointment at Medway Maritime Hospital, last Wednesday.

The purse had a number of items in it including scans of the 21-year-old's baby and her white gold engagement ring.

The woman, from Gillingham, left her bag under a coat on a seat in the neo-natal ward and when she went to leave, she noticed her purse had been taken.

It is believed to have been stolen sometime between 11.45am and 3pm.

Det Con Maxine Smyth said: "The purse that was stolen had a number of items that were of sentimental value to the victim, including scanned baby pictures and her white gold engagement ring.

"We would appeal for whoever took the purse to think about their actions and hand it back to police."

"The advice to anyone is to always keep your valuables with you at all times and not to leave any bags unattended."
