Football Association charges Paul Scally and Gillingham FC after sacking of Mark McCammon

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally and the club have been charged by the Football Association over the dismissal of former player Mark McCammon.

The FA has issued the charges following the dismissal of former stiker Mark McCammon from Gillingham Football Club in 2011.

Gillingham FC has been charged, along with its chairman Paul Scally, with a breach of FA Rule E3.

In both instances it is alleged they failed to act in the best interests of the game, and/or brought the game into disrepute by committing an act of race victimisation in dismissing Mark McCammon.

Both Gillingham and Mr Scally have until November 14 to respond.

It comes after the player won almost £70,000 in compensation - after a tribunal ruled in 2012 he was unfairly sacked by the club because he's black.

A spokesman for the club, said: "We aware of the charge but the club is not making any comment at this stage."
