Fire at an ink store in Scimitar Close in Gillingham Business Park

Around 20 firefighters spent 45 minutes fighting a fire at an ink store.

Four pumps from Medway and Strood stations attended Scimitar Close in Gillingham Business Park just after midnight last night.

The fire, believed to be in Fuji Seal Europe Ltd, was put out at 1.12am.

Crews used compressed air foam and a main jet to tackle the blaze, which was in a single storey building measuring approximately 200 x 100 metres. 

They spent another 30 minutes damping down and making the area safe.

It is not yet known how the fire started.
