Fire in Chatham

Fire crews are still battling a blaze that broke out in a Chatham terrace this morning.

Six pumps, two height vehicles and 40 firefighters were sent to Railway Street, where a four-storey building containing commercial and residential accommodation was reported alight at 4.40am.

The fire broke out in the third floor and roof space of the building, which was unoccupied. Police have closed roads while firefighters continue to work at the scene. No-one has been hurt or trapped in the incident.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
