Firearms officers close roads

Parts of Strood town centre were shut by police this afternoon after reports that a man was seen carrying a firearm.
Officers were sent to the scene in Strood High Street at about 1.20pm today, Sunday.
Traffic and pedestrians were diverted away from the town centre as police closed off London Road at the junction with Gun Lane and Woodstock Road and Northcote Road at the junction with Darnley Road.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and was being questioned at Medway police station as we went to press.
The roads were reopened at about 4pm.
