Delays at Gillingham level crossing after flooding damaged signalling equipment

Motorists faced delays in Gillingham this morning due to a fault with the level crossing.

The crossing, in Ingram Road, was closed to traffic between 5am and 8am after flooding damaged signalling equipment.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “We are not sure at this stage whether the damage was because of a lightning strike or flooding as our technicians are still on site fixing the damage.
