Charlie Micallef charged after Medway hospital staff 'assaulted'

A man has been charged after nurses and security guards were allegedly assaulted at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Police were called to the site in Windmill Road at 4pm on Friday after reports a man had attacked a nurse.

A larger disturbance followed and further three nurses and security guards reported being assaulted.

Charlie Micallef, 26, of Thistledown Close in Hempstead, has now been charged with eight counts of assault by beating and one count of affray.

The charges relate to alleged assaults on four nurses, two security guards, a woman who is known to him and a police officer.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
