Two brothers and a sister have gone on trial over an alleged revenge shooting of two mechanics in Gillingham.

Adam Green is accused of firing the shots from a motorcycle, while Melissa and Steven Green are charged with perverting the course of justice.

Maidstone Crown Court heard Kurdish men Dara Shikah and Nabil Kheder were left with wounds to their legs at a yard in Railway Street.

Prosecutor Andrew Espley said Adam Green, 26, went to the garage with another man on April 13, 2012, and tried to kill Mr Shikah and Mr Kheder.

It was in revenge, he said, for a fight Green and another brother, Tony Green, had the day before at the garage over the sale of a car with mechanical faults a few days earlier.

Mr Espley told the jury: "The problem is not only were two men shot, but they were the wrong men, because they had nothing to do with the sale of the car to Tony Green's friend.

"We say Adam Green shot the wrong men in the heat of the moment."

Mr Espley said Steven Green, 28, helped his brother to hide some of the evidence. Melissa Green, 22, went to the police, he said, and made a statement in which she sought to establish a false alibi for her brother Adam Green.

Mr Espley said: "We say Adam Green is the man who actually fired the shots.

"There was another man there on another motorbike when that happened."

If the jury found the other man fired the shots, he added, they were in it together on the basis of joint enterprise.

Adam Green, of Hards Town, Chatham, denies two charges of attempted murder and Melissa Green, of Lord Duncan Court, Duncan Road, Gillingham, denies perverting the course of justice.

Steven Green, of Luton Road, Chatham, has been found unfit to plead to a charge of perverting the course of justice and the jury will just have to decide whether he "did the act".
