Firefighters came to the rescue of a 12-year-old girl who got stuck in a metal tube at a Rochester playground.

The girl was playing at Jackson's Field, in City Way, yesterday evening when her knee got jammed against the inside of the tube - leaving her trapped inside.

Neither her or her friend had a mobile phone and the pair waited 20 minutes before a passerby came to their aid and called for help.

Crew manager Ken Spratt, of Strood fire station, said his team was able lift her up to change her position and ease her free.

"She was a bit embarrassed," he added. "She had a bit of cramp but she was ok."
