The Met Office issued a weather warning for heavy rain and possible flooding in Kent over the weekend with downpours expected to produce up to 50mm of rain in places – almost half the monthly rainfall figure of last October. Medway’s wintery weather started on Friday and continued on Sunday with heavy showers.

The weather is predicted to improve this week – with the Met Office forecasting a dry week with sunny intervals, and temperatures reaching 15C on Thursday.

But the warmer weather is not expected to last, with some forecasters predicting the worst winter for decades.

It is reported that forecasters warned the entire country is set for a horror freeze, which will bring brutal winds and fierce blizzards, with the possibility of “record-breaking snowfall” next month.
