The Mast & Rigging pub opens its doors to the public for the first time today.

Marston’s is the latest franchise to open in the Chatham Waters development, tucked in between ASDA and Medway UTC.

Mark Pringle came to Medway eight weeks ago after working at another Marston’s pub in Southend.

He told the Medway Messenger: “I’m excited to welcoming all of our new customers through the doors and I’m looking forward to experimenting with our new products.

“It was a fantastic opportunity for me to come to a brand new building and have a completely unique pub.

“The building is unique to the company and a in a unique location and there’s lots of potential for us in the future.

“We have got the family dining area and al fresco dining and of course you will be waited on by exceptional staff and service.”

The pub has created up to 50 new jobs in the area and has the new grill and pizza area which is being added to Marston’s venues across the country.

Despite running 1,500 pubs across the country this is the first Marston’s is opening in the Towns.

Further development at Chatham Waters will be discussed on Wednesday by the planning committee.

The second stage of the £650 million development, which will include 199 one, two and three bedroom flats, is expected to be approved.
