Jamshed Hasanzada owner of Top Kebab in Canterbury Street, Gillingham, fined over dumping his rubbish

A kebab shop owner has been fined after dumping rubbish.

There are strict laws about disposing business waste and Jamshed Hasanzada was supposed to dispose of waste like any other business - through a private contract.

Instead, the owner of Top Kebab in Canterbury Street, Gillingham, filled black bin bags with waste from the takeaway, including plastic bottles, and stuck it out for collection along with domestic rubbish put out by residents in the street.

In his absence, Hasanzada, 32, was fined £350 by Medway Magistrates for a breach of a duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £447.

Medway Council investigated the incident after complaints from residents who saw the business waste being put out with theirs.

Medway Council does not provide a waste collection service to businesses so any waste collected from the company would need to be arranged through a registered waste contractor.

By not getting rid of his waste in the correct way, Hasanzada was essentially fly-tipping.
