Accident closed coast-bound carriageway of M2 between junction 2 Strood and junction 3 Chatham

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an accident involving a car and a motorbike on the M2 this morning.

The accident took place on the coast-bound carriageway between junction two for Strood and junction three for Chatham. It happened shortly before 10am just after the Medway Viaduct.

The carriageway was closed whilst emergency services were on scene but the road has now been reopened.

An air ambulance attended as did land ambulances.

A police spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a collision involving a motorbike and a car at 9.53am.

"A man has been taken to a London hospital with serious injuries."

London-bound traffic was also briefly stopped because of the accident.

Drivers were leaving the road at the Stood junction causing knock-on problems around the Cuxton area.
