Stephen Roberts charged with burglary after police find man hiding in garage in Edinburgh Road, Chatham

Officers have charged a man with burglary after officers found someone hiding in a garage workshop.

Police were called to Edinburgh Road, Chatham, last Saturday MARCH 3 after a homeowner noticed a lock on his building had been broken.

After turning on the light the owner heard a noise from the first floor and called the police.

Officers arrived at around 9pm and climbed a ladder to the first floor and found a man hiding behind some chairs.

He was then arrested after it was found that thousands of pounds worth of tools were missing from inside.

Following an investigation officers attended another address in the same road where they searched the garden and items reported stolen in the burglary were found.

Stephen Roberts, 33, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of burglary and has been bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 3.
