Man rushed to hospital after assault in Gillingham High Street

A man has been charged following a stabbing in Gillingham over the bank holiday weekend.

The air ambulance was called following the attack in the high street just after 3am on Saturday.

A 34-year-old man suffered chest injuries and was taken to King's College Hospital in an ambulance, followed by the emergency crew from the helicopter.

A 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were also injured in the attack.

Njabulo Leroy Sibanda, 25, of Fir Tree Grove, Chatham, has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent and one count of assault.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in crown court at the end of the month.
