Man taken to hospital after crash on the A289 Wainscott bypass

A man has been taken to hospital after two lorries collided on the A289 Wainscott bypass this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the London-bound A289 at the junction for the A226 Gravesend Road at 2pm.

One driver was said to be suffering from neck and back pain.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters worked with colleagues from the ambulance service to release a man.

"He was placed on a spinal longboard and taken to hospital by ambulance."

Police diverted traffic while the crash scene was cleared.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "A rolling road, or up and over, was put on at 2.15pm with London-bound traffic coming off at the A226 slip road and coming back on the other side."

It was reopened at 3.50pm.
