Man taken to hospital after fire in Balmoral Road, Gillingham

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire in a flat in Balmoral Road, Gillingham - the cause of which is being investigated.

Crews were called at around 10pm last night and wore breathing apparatus to rescue the man from the three-storey building.

He was given oxygen therapy for the effects of breathing in smoke before being passed to the care of paramedics.

Crews used a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the flames before clearing smoke and fumes with a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The crews left at 11.30pm.


There are no other reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is now being investigated.
