A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after he was involved in a crash with a bus.

The incident on Chatham Hill occurred at about 4.15pm today (Wednesday).

The road was closed for a short time in both directions while emergency services dealt with the smash in which a bike was in collision with a single-decker bus.

The road has been reopened on the carriageway going up Chatham Hill but there are still tailbacks to Medway fire station, in Gillingham.

An ambulance took the motorcyclist to hospital with a suspected broken leg.

Only two vehicles were involved.

In a seperate incident a motorcyclist suffered minor injuries when his bike was in collision with a van this afternoon.

The crash happened shortly before 4pm on St Williams Way, Rochester, at its junction with Fairlead Road.

One passer-by who saw the aftermath of the crash but didn’t want to be named, said: “The young rider was propping himself up by the side of the road and the red van involved was in the middle of the road with all the doors open.

“The rider had taken his helmet off and I could see it had all scratches on it, but he didn’t seem too badly hurt.”

A spokesman for Medway police confirmed that an ambulance had attended the scene and said the rider had only suffered minor injuries.
