Crash on the M2 between Chatham and Strood

A crash closed two lanes of the M2 this morning.

Emergency services were called to the coast-bound carriageway between J3 for Chatham and J2 for Strood at 8am after collision involving three cars.

One man was trapped in a car that had ended up on the embankment and had to be cut free by firefighters.

The 65-year-old was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with head, lower leg and thorax injuries.

Police and ambulance crews were also in attendance.

The spokesman for Kent Police said the vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder.

The incident caused long delays on the M2 during rush hour.
