Wainscott man Peter Wood appears at Medway Magistrates' Court charged with trying to murder ex-wife Tina Wood after stabbing on Liberty Park estate

A man man appeared before Medway magistrates this morning charged with the attempted murder of his ex-wife.

Peter Wood, of Glimmer Way, Wainscott, is alleged to have assaulted Tina Wood in the early hours of Tuesday.

The 34-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to King's College Hospital in London where she remains.

The court heard her injuries could be life-changing. She is believed to have suffered head, thorax, abdomen and lower leg injuries.

No application was made for bail and 44-year-old Wood was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, February 21.

Police were called to a property in Glimmer Way, on the Liberty Park estate, at about 2.40am.

Mrs Wood was taken to the specialist London hospital by ambulance.

The air ambulance was called, landing at a nearby playing field, but was not needed.
