Lorry overturns at junction 3 of M2 for Chatham

Delays have cleared after a lorry overturned on the M2 during this morning's rush hour.

The accident happened on the roundabout at junction 3 for Chatham and Rochester just before 8am.

It involved two lorries, one of which rolled onto its side and blocked the entry slip road.

The slip road has since reopened.

The accident caused congestion on the A229 at Buckmore Park and the Lord Lees roundabout.

Delays had cleared by 10am.

Police were called to the scene to direct traffic.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report of a collision on the M2 London bound at the slip road from Bluebell Hill at 7.52am on Thursday 1 June 2017.

"The collision is reported to have involved two vehicles. One person was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

"The slip road was closed while the vehicles were recovered but has since reopened."
