Elderly lady taken to Medway Maritime Hospital after she was hit by a car in Railway Street, Gillingham

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car in Gillingham.

Emergency services were called to Railway Street just before midday to reports a pedestrian had been knocked down.

The air ambulance was called out and landed nearby on the Great Lines Heritage Park.

Paramedics treated the lady at the scene for injuries including leg injuries.

She was then taken by road to Medway Maritime Hospital by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Witnesses said on Facebook that there were two ambulances and a police car near the railway station, and that traffic was being diverted.

The road is now clear.
