Gillingham fans told 'have a beer and help buy players' by chairman Paul Scally

Gillingham FC fans have been told all the profits from its new bar will help pay for new players.

Previously called Blues Rock Cafe, it opened its doors on Saturday after months of delays.

It had closed at the end of last season for refurbishment and has now reopened as Factory.

Fans were originally told it would be open in September, and then November.

In December chairman Paul Scally wrote in his match day programme notes that due to a setback, the opening of the new bar had been delayed again.

It finally opened its doors for Gillingham’s home game against Swindon on Saturday but refurbishment work is yet to be completed

Mr Scally said: “It remains under construction but we are open for business on match days only until April when full facilities should be completed and then open six days a week.”

He added: “It will be great to see our fans supporting this new venue and the profits that are generated from our new facility will go towards improving our playing squad.”

The bar will be open from 11am on match days with an after-match party from 5pm. The full facilities will include a restaurant called The Canteen.
