Three year football banning order given to Jack Morley of Kingfisher Road, Larkfield after going on to pitch during Gillingham v Millwall match

A man who ran onto the pitch during The Gills last game of the season has been handed a banning order by magistrates.

Jack Morley, also known as Jack Spear, pleaded guilty to entering a field of play at Medway Magistrates Court this morning.

Morley, 23, of Kingfisher Road, Larkfield, was given a three year banning order and a £60 fine and ordered to pay £85 costs.

Investigating officer DC James Chichester said: "Jack Spear has shown remorse for his actions and understands that what he did was wrong.

"This case should act as a warning to all football supporters that there is no excuse for entering the field of play, and that by failing to keep your emotions under control you risk being banned from attending matches in the future.

"The law is there to prevent disorder at football matches and to help ensure the safety of everyone in attendance, and thankfully the majority of supporters in Kent adhere to it and behave responsibly on a regular basis."

The ban means Morley cannot attend any football matches for the next three years.

Eight fans were arrested for offences including assault on a police officer and entering the field of play when Gillingham played Millwall at Priestfield Stadium on May 8.

A further five were arrested after the match and charged with offences including disorderly behaviour, assault and possession of a controlled drug.

Yesterday, officers investigating disorder at the match released images of nine more men they would like to speak to.
