Kent Police patrol car spotted parked in disabled bay in Strood

A police officer has been disciplined after parking in a disabled parking bay in Strood.

The incriminating shot of the car parked in an on-street disabled space was shared on social media on December 11.

A police spokesman said: “While a Kent Police officer was making enquiries in Strood in relation to a report of theft, the officer parked for a short time in a disabled bay.

"The officer concerned has been disciplined by a senior officer and reminded of the importance of responsible parking at all times."

It is an offence to park a vehicle in a disabled parking bay, without displaying a Blue Badge.

Breaking the law carries a maximum fine of £1,000.

This is not the first time an officer has been caught abusing the parking rules.

Another was disciplined after angry shoppers spotted a patrol car parked in a disabled bay outside the Co-operative store in Kennington, Ashford last year.
