Power cut leaves more than 400 homes in the dark

by Hayley Robinson

MORE than 400 homes left without electricity following a power cut yesterday, have now had their power fully restored.

A fault on the overhead electricity distribution network initially left 1,238 customers in the Blue Bell Hill area without power at 2.55pm.

EDF Energy Network’s engineers restored supplies to 558 customers at 3.52pm and to more customers by 6.12pm.

However, the final 488 customers had to rely on temporary generators to supply their power as the fault was proving difficult to locate and repair.

Power was finally restored to 134 homes at 11.42am today, 36 at 12.15pm, 175 at 1.30pm, seven at 2.15pm and the remaining 114 at 2.30pm.

A spokesman for EDF Energy said: "We appreciate how difficult it is to lose power and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident."
