Striking trade unionists and protestors against pension changes plan to march through Chatham.

They will go from Chatham High Street at to the Command House, on Chatham waterfront, to meet striking teachers and local government workers next Thursday, June 30.

All are protesting over government plans to increase their pension contributions and make them work longer for less pension.

Steve Wilkins, from Medway Against the Cuts, said ministers admitted money cut from pensions will go towards paying off the national deficit and not into pension schemes. He said that amounted to a tax on working in the public sector.

The organisers hope the public will show support for the public sector by joining their protest.

The main rally will be next door to Medway Council's Gun Wharf headquarters.
