Rainham schoolgirl attacked by masked man in Salisbury Avenue

31 January 2014
by Nicola Jordan

A teenage girl was attacked as she walked home by a masked man who leapt from a car.

The 15-year-old Rainham School for Girls student was pushed to the pavement after being punched in the face by the silent stranger dressed in black.

He then calmly walked back to his silver vehicle, parked a few feet away from the attack in Salisbury Avenue, looking back to see if the victim was still on the ground.

The victim was initially taken to Medway Police Station

The girl suffered a swollen black eye and cuts to her face after her head struck a car in the assault.

She staggered to the back of a van where she hid until a young woman jogging with her dog approached.

She called her father, who picked her up and drove her to Medway Police Station.

As the station was closed they then went on to hospital where the traumatised teen was treated.

“This has left my daughter severely traumatised. I want this out there to warn others to be vigilant" - girl's mother

Her mother has now warned others about the sinister attack which happened between 8pm and 8.30pm on Monday.

She said: “This has left my daughter severely traumatised. I want this out there to warn others to be vigilant.

“She is lucky in that she is strong and fit, but this could have easily have happened to somebody more vulnerable. And the frightening thing is, he is still out there.

A police spokesman: "Kent Police can confirm a report of assault at Salisbury Avenue Gillingham on January 27 between 8pm and 8.30pm. Officers are investigating the incident."
