Emergency electrical repairs close Manor Road, in Chatham, for at least the rest of the week

A road in Chatham is set to be closed for at least the rest of the week after emergency electrical repair work had to be carried out by engineers.

Contractors are currently working on repairing an underground electricity cable at the bottom of Manor Road which has been closed since last Friday, February 17.

It is expected the work should be completed by the end of this week and motorists are being diverted along other routes.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “Engineers are working as quickly as possible to complete essential repairs to an underground electricity cable in Manor Road, Chatham, to maintain reliable electricity supplies for local customers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we are aiming to complete the works quicker than scheduled, by the end of this week, to minimise the impact on the area.”

Motorists are being diverted along New Road and down Star Hill to join the High Street and can still access Medway Street.
