Rainham School for Girls warning after man approaches pupils

A secondary school has issued a warning to its pupils after another student was approached.

A spokesman for Rainham School for Girls, Derwent Way, Rainham, said a man in a car approached one of the pupils in the lower Rainham area.

She said: “The police were immediately informed and we continue to follow their advice.

“Parents, students and local schools have been alerted to the potential danger.”

Police stepped up patrols at the school last month as a result of an incident in Salisbury Avenue on Thursday, January 21.

Nicholas Bennett, 26, of Association Walk, Rochester, appeared in court on Saturday, January 30, accused with kidnapping with the intention of committing a sexual offence.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, February 29.
