Crash closes Maidstone Road in Chatham

Emergency services were called to a "serious accident" in Chatham in which a woman pedestrian was hit by a car.

It happened on Maidstone Road at is junction with Watson Avenue at 3.22pm.

Police accident investigators were said to be at the scene.

A police spokesman earlier said: "Police and ambulance crews have attended the scene and the road is currently closed."

Highways officials said surrounding roads were affected with long delays Maidstone-bound on the approach to the Toys R Us roundabout

Traffic was being diverted via the Davis Estate.

It is understood the road fully reopened at 6.10pm.
