Suspicious blaze at Strood takeaway investigated by Kent Police

A Strood takeaway is being treated as a crime scene after a fire broke out in the early hours.

The shop was filled with smoke after a bin fire in an alley beside the premises in Darnley Road, Strood.

Fire crews attended from Strood and Medway at around 1am this morning. Bins and a storage area were destroyed in the fire in Darnley Road.

A fire spokesman said: “There was no obvious reason for the fire and the police are treating it as a crime scene at the current time.”
