Gravesend man Christopher Crammond died after being struck by telegraph pole at Kingsnorth Industrial Estate in Hoo

A 40-year-old man who died in an accident on Kingsnorth Industrial Estate in Hoo has been named.

Christopher Crammond, of The Drove Way, Istead Rise, Gravesend, was fatally injured after being hit by a telegraph pole.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said attempts were made to resuscitate him but Mr Crammond was pronounced dead at the scene just after 8am.

Mr Crammond was a drummer for the metal band Designs of Chaos.

On the band's Facebook page it said: "He was the heart and soul of DoC and we are all devastated by this loss. Our hearts and thoughts are with his family and friends."

Dozens of tributes have been left on the site after his death on Thursday, June 26.

Cathy Musto wrote: "There wasn't a better man or a better husband. He truly lived life his own laidback way. I would kill for him to take the p*** out of me one more time.

"Much love to his family and other friends but most of all to Natalie who has lost half of her heart. We'll look after her big guy."

His parents Steve and Christine posted on the page: "Our son Christopher has been taken too soon leaving an incredibly empty space in our hearts and we will miss him so much.

"Life will never be the same.

"The amount of love coming out of the messages left by friends and family is overwhelming.

"Thank you seems such a couple of inadequate word for all your love and support for ourselves and Natalie but it's a word that's meant from deep within us."

An inquest was opened and adjourned yesterday. The cause of death was given as head injuries. A full inquest will be held at a later date.

The Health and Safety Executive said investigations are ongoing.
