Fourth teenager charged with murder in connection with the death of Kyle Yule in Gillingham

Police have now revealed two more people have been charged with the murder of a Gillingham teenager.

A 17-year-old boy from Gillingham and a 16-year-old boy from Tunbridge Wells were each charged with murder and affray yesterday.

The pair are the third and fourth people to be charged.

Both boys have now appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court, and their cases have been sent to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with.

Both are now due to appear there on Monday.

Kyle Yule, 17, was stabbed to death in East Street as he tried to run to his home in nearby Hamilton Road on Friday, October 6.

A 16-year-old boy from Sittingbourne, who cannot be named due to his age, and Victor Maibvisira, 19, of St John’s Road, Gillingham, have previously appeared in court to deny the murder charge, as well as affray.

They will stand trial on April 9. The hearing is expected to last three weeks.

Maibvisira appeared by TV link with Elmley Prison in December along with the other teenager, who was in the dock.

Maibvisira has also denied possessing a knife and making threats with it on Sunday, October 1, five days before the alleged attack.

At the time, prosecutor Steven Perian QC said there was still “a clear possibility” other youths would be charged.

A previous hearing was told Kyle was chased from a car as rival gangs from Chatham and Gillingham clashed. He tried to run to his home but was fatally stabbed under his right armpit.

A tyre on the car in East Street was slashed when the violence broke out in the early evening.

Maibvisira’s nationality was given as Zimbabwean and the other teenager’s as Irish.

Two teenagers aged 18 and a 15-year-old boy who were on bail until yesterday, will face no further action.

Three other people, a boy aged 15, and two men aged 20 and who were previously released under investigation will also face no further action.

A 15-year-old boy from Croydon remains on bail until Friday, January 19.
