Three rescued after dinghy capsizes off Upnor

A capsized dinghy on the River Medway sparked a rescue mission.

Three people had to be rescued near Upnor after they were thrown into the water in adverse weather conditions yesterday.

Thames Coastguard received a 999 call at 4.40pm from a distressed man who reported his mother, father in-law and daughter were in the water after falling out of the inflatable.

An urgent distress call was issued and Sheerness RNLI Inshore Lifeboat and Medway Coastguard were tasked along with Kent Police’s lifeboat.

The casualties were rescued from the water and taken to Upnor.

An woman was taken to hospital suffering from taking in water.
