Thug Rene Duna, of Luton Road, Chatham, jailed for 15 months for attack on homeowner in Gillingham

A thug has been jailed after picking the wrong house and trying to kick its door down and then assaulting the homeowner.

Rene Duna, 28, interrupted a dinner party when he knocked on the door of the home in Gordon Road, Gillingham.

Duna, of Luton Road, Chatham, began shouting and banging the front window of a property during the early hours of one morning in April 2015.

He left after being confronted by the owner, but returned minutes later, shouting and kicking the front door.

Duna then punched the owner, a man in his 30s, when he reopened the door, breaking two of his teeth and causing lasting injuries.

He then left the area but was tracked down and arrested and later released on bail as police gathered further evidence to charge him.

Duna was then charged with assault and admitted the offence when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court, on Thursday, February 22.

PC Brian Mitchell who investigated the case, said: "It’s believed Duna thought two women he had met earlier that evening were staying at the address.

"However, rather than knock on at a reasonable time and ask for their whereabouts, he decided to bang on windows, shout and kick a door.

"To make matters worse and cause great concern for the residents, he then lashed out without provocation.

"This behaviour will not be tolerated and I hope this sentence provides some reassurance to the victims."
