Two hurt in Gillingham-bound Medway Tunnel crashes

Traffic in Strood and Gillingham experienced gridlock today after a series of separate crashes.

Kent Police was first called to the Gillingham-bound carriageway at 1.45pm to reports of a road traffic collision.

Officers attended after it was reported a silver Ford Fiesta, a black Skoda Fabia and a black Peugeot convertible were involved in a collision.

The South East Coast ambulances Service was also on the scene.

A further collision was reported shortly afterwards in the same carriageway as vehicles reportedly attempted to reverse out.

Two people suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters were called out to another car accident in Pier Road, Gillingham at about 3pm.

The female driver also had to be released from her Ford Focus after sustaining neck injuries.

Paramedics took her to Medway Maritime Hospital.
