Rainham house fire injures two in Cherry Tree Road

A man and a woman have been taken to hospital after they were rescued from a fire at a house in Rainham.

The blaze broke out in the living room of a house in Cherry Tree Road just before 5pm.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene, along with Kent police and paramedics.

A man in his 40s suffered burns and an elderly woman, believed to be in her eighties, was treated for smoke inhalation.

Both were taken to hospital.

Firefighters used breathing gear to enter the house and extinguish the flames with water.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
