Two people treated in hospital after chemical leaks in Sittingbourne and at Farthing Corner Services on M2

Two people have been taken to hospital following two chemical leaks from lorries overnight.

Rescuers called out just before 8pm last night included six fire engines, support units, the ambulance hazard area response team, the police and the Environment Agency.

Firefighters wearing gas-tight suits worked to make the loads safe at an industrial estate in Sittingbourne and then at Farthing Corner Services on the M2.

The victims were decontaminated following exposure to the substances and the fumes.
