Van fire on M2 near junction 2 for Strood and Cuxton

Fire crews were called to the M2 this morning after a flatbed truck went up in flames.

Traffic cameras showed a plume of smoke rising high above the motorway near the Medway bridge.

The vehicle was on the hard-shoulder of the London-bound carriageway close to the turn-off for Cuxton and Strood .

A fire service spokesman said crews were called at 9.26am and three engines were sent to the scene.

The blaze is believed to be accidental and no-one was injured.

The incident was over by 10.15am.
