Firefighters called to washing machine fire in Minerva Road, Rocehster

Firefighters were called to Rochester this morning after a washing machine caught fire.

A woman had put her machine on, and was about to leave her home in Minerva Road, when the electrics tripped out and it caught alight.

Crews were called at 7.43am and believe the blaze started inside the internal wiring of the appliance.

Firefighters isolated the power to the machine and put out the fire, before putting it in the garden.
